Jean-Pierre Valteau was born in Seattle, Washington and graduated from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Law Enforcement and a minor in Sociology. After graduating college in 2011 he moved to Haiti and worked at Université Polyvalente D’Haiti as an English teacher and also assisted with development projects in La Vallée de Jacmel. Jean-Pierre began teaching English and volunteering with The Good Samaritan Inc. in July of 2012. He believes in simplicity and quality as two key components in any development or education program. In his free time he likes to read books, explore the outdoors, and simply just, “have a good time”.

This admirable young man kick-started our library project and we now have over 1,000 books for our students to read! He has been with us 8 months and counting!

Desire is a gifted poet with who has been an active community leader in Los Angeles and the Bay area since the age of 16. Now graduating from Mills College, Desire hope to become a professional educator and  is interested in learning about African diaspora during her time at The Good Samaritan.

Desire plans to join us in Octobr 2013 and stay as long as she can!
